It's not a stolen game, but Honey Select 2 itself (The program used to make the games renders) is owned by Illusion.

They are Illusion (Rebranded), just because a company closes down doesn't mean its IP becomes public domain...
Illgames has no copyright on games that were made by Illusion. Illusion is the only one that can file copyright claims on their own stuff, which is highly unlikely as they are no longer a company. It is my understanding that Illgames is also only part of the old team from Illusion, not the whole company. Finally, since Illusion games have been released, people have made their own assets in Illusion games and then used them in their own games. They have charged for their own games for years, and Illusion never really gave a shit, so long as they are credited for theirs software's use.
Illusion stopped its existence as a company last year on August 18th, 2023. According to the fair use law, we can make use of the assets. There is simply no way for a company that no longer exists to claim intellectual property. Then again, it is not our intention to make the players feel like they have to pay something to experience the game. The main story will be available completely free and you will be able to go through the game entirely without paying anything. The Patreon version is only for those who want to experience Extra and non-indispensable content for the game progression.
